If You Are Considering Orthodontic Treatment, Learn More About Your Options

Posted .

If you are ready to straighten your smile, we are excited to help you work toward your dream smile. Our dentists can provide you with in-depth information about your options for orthodontic treatment to help you select the right method for your smile.

Metal/Traditional Braces
These are the braces that come to mind when people think of orthodontics. They are the most common, and they consist of metal brackets and wires. The brackets are glued to the fronts of the teeth and held in place with metal wires. Over the years, these braces have grown smaller and become less noticeable, and they now use archwires that become activated by your body heat to shift teeth faster and more comfortably.

Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces are similar to metal/traditional braces in every way, except they use tooth-colored or clear brackets to become less noticeable. If you wish to further enhance the discreet appearance of your ceramic braces, you also opt for tooth-colored wires.

Lingual Braces
Using the same materials as traditional braces, lingual braces disguise their appearance by attaching to the back of the teeth, where they are out of sight.

Invisalign®
Invisalign is a series of 18-30 clear, plastic aligners fit over your smile and are completely removable. They are shaped much like mouth guards but are hard to see when worn. Your aligners will be replaced every two weeks to keep your teeth moving.

Please be aware that all of these options are not available at the office of every orthodontist, and you may not be a good candidate for some of these treatments.
